Spider-Man: Far From Home will reveal Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) secret workshop. Iron Man may be gone, but his legacy lives on with protege Peter Parker (Tom Holland). And while the genius billionaire is no longer around, he'll continue to be an integral part of the young hero's adventures as the web-slinging wall-crawler. That may come in the form of simply being an inspiration, or in more tangible ways like handing down some of his high-tech resources for Peter to take advantage of.
Directed by Spider-Man:Homecoming filmmaker Jon Watts, Far From Home will take place after the universe-shaking events of Avengers: Endgame. With Peter struggling to come to terms with the idea of a world without Tony, he'll be off for a recreational trip across the pond alongside some of his schoolmates. But his vacation will be hijacked by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), who ropes him into a mission tackling the so-called Elementals that'll team him up with Quentin Beck aka Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). Readers of comic books know, however, that both Peter and Fury need to keep their guards up against Beck considering his conniving ways in print. The film sounds pretty much straightforward, but Holland promises some big surprises, one of which includes the revelation of Tony's secret lab.
As part of the latest issue of Total Film (via CBM) that extensively covers Far From Home, it's revealed that the next MCU entry will feature Iron Man's hidden workshop at the back of the Stark Jet. While fans have seen a slew of Stark's private aircrafts since the first Iron Man, this laboratory has never been revealed before. Trailers for the movie featured Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) and Peter bonding over their shared loss of Tony in a jet, and it's safe to say that's the vessel that holds the secret laboratory.
Since the tragedy of Ultron, fans haven't really seen Tony back in a laboratory and tinkering on his creations, an element that helped make his earlier films even more enjoyable to watch. But that doesn't mean that he stopped working. If anything, he probably got more immersed in work after his temporary break-up with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow). Given this, it's not surprising that Stark has a secret laboratory, since he'd been obsessively preparing for the unknown threat in his premonition that turned out to be Thanos. This follows the trend of mobile workshops in the MCU, following the reveal of Hank Pym's (Michael Douglas) shrinking laboratory that debuted in Ant-Man & The Wasp.
Considering what's been revealed with regard to the appearance of the Stark Jet in Spider-Man: Far From Home, it's safe to assume that the Stark laboratory will factor into Peter's mission in the film. While the MCU movies haven't really delved into the young hero's genius much yet, there's no doubt he'll be able to make his way around the workshop, where he'd even possibly create his own suit - something that fans have been clamoring to see since this new version of the character debuted.
